Research Opportunities

Research Travel Grants

The Gateway Program awards Travel Grants of up to $1500 (depending on availability of funds) to undergraduate social sciences majors who are actively engaged in a conference. This could include presenting a paper or poster, serving in a leadership role, or participating/been invited in other meaningful ways. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis.

The Travel Grant may be used to cover expenses such as hotel costs, airfare or mileage, and registration fees for presenting at in-person conferences.

Eligibility

  • Must have a declared major within the School of Social Sciences and have completed 12 credit hours in the declared major.
  • Selected students must provide a well-written account of the purpose of the travel experience, a personal reflection of the impact of their experience, and a picture confirming their attendance at the event.
  • Each student may receive this award a maximum of two times during their undergraduate career at Rice.

Application

  • Applications should be submitted at least 30 days prior to travel.
