Social Sciences Shapiro Showcase Nominations
The Shapiro Showcase represents the top undergraduate researchers at Rice. Presenters will deliver 8-minute talks on their intermediate to advanced research, followed by a short Q&A. One winner will be selected through judge evaluations and announced at the closing reception.
The School of Social Sciences invites applications from social sciences majors to participate in this year's showcase, April 20-23, 2026. Please fill out this form to nominate yourself or your group for consideration. Make sure to provide all necessary information and upload the required documents.
- Students must be a declared social sciences major to apply. Students conducting research on- and off-campus are eligible for consideration.
- NOTE: This application process is separate from the SSURS application process. Please fill out the SSURS application if you wish to present a poster or lightning talk during our school-based event.
- The application is due by Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:59 pm.
Social Sciences Undergraduate Research Symposium (SSURS)
- Application Opens March 1, 2026
- Application Deadline Submit the online application by Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
- Group projects only need to submit one application to include all team members.
- Faculty or graduate student reference information will be required in the application.
